Average moving costs
- Small apartment, office or storage moves (some I can do on my own. This can save the customer 100 dollars or more). A lot of times I can knock out a smaller job in 2 hours – which is somewhere around 250.00. This includes the trip charge and Gondola boxes for closets and loose items. Some jobs will take more than 2 hours but It’s still a decent hourly rate ($1.50 per minute after the 2 hours ). For 2 of us, the summer time hourly rates are 150.00 pr hour and a $50 trip/truck charge. It’s common for 2 of us to move a one bedroom apt in 2 to 2.5 hours. Depending on what part of town, the drive time is in there. If there are excessive stairs or long walks, this can add to the time as well. The 2 hour charge with trip charge is 350.00.
2. Larger apartments, 10 by 20 storage units, small houses. (Office moves of comparable size)
An average, full, one trip move takes 3.5 to 5 hours. This would be say for a smaller house or a large 2 bedroom apartment or 3 bedroom. Again, whether or not there are stairs or long walks .. or if we help prepare items for the the move .. this will add to the time some. Me and a helper finish 2 bedroom apartment moves in 3 to 4 hours, regularly. The small homes in 3.5 to 5 hours. Once I can get basic details about a job it’s pretty easy to assess and give a clear estimate.
3. 2 trip moves.
If I know that a job will take two trips, I will try to make each trip smooth. If it’s obvious it will be 2 FULL trips, then each one will take time to pack well. I always use plenty of blankets and protection and secure the items well.
4. Out of town moves
These I do mostly with loading /unloading time plus a mileage charge. AN average San Antonio Apartment move is 700.00 to 1000.00. Houston 900.00 to 1300.00 . Dallas 1000.00 to 1500.00. Elevators and long walks can add up the time but I’ve done a bunch of these over these moves. An average house move, to or from Dallas is 1700.00 to 2200.00. That’s with appliances, furniture, boxes, garage and back yard. If a second truck is needed, it’s only the cost of the rental, fuel and $50 extra for the driver.
